In this photograph I see a train station waiting area, with people sitting on benches. I first noticed the wooden poles lining the area. The people or objects shown are mostly women, because they're wearing long skirts and formal hats. In the image people are standing around, and some are sitting. I think this image was made in the 1900's. If someone made this today I think it would be different by having a more modern sceneery, and the people in the picture would have a very different look. I want to know who took this photograph. I want to know why this photo was taken. I also want to know where this photo was taken.

In this photograph, I see two men, and one woman working on a farm. At first I noticed the man in the middle, because he is the largest. The people and objects shown, are three people, one woman and two men, also farming tools are shown. I think the image was made to show that African-American's didnt have the best oppurtunities in life back then, so they had to settle for low jobs, like farming. What's happening in the picture, is that three people are farming. What's missing from this image, is thatthere's no life, it seems like the people in the photo are sad, because it is black and white, and they look solitaire. I want to know why this picture was made. I want to know when this picture was made. I also want to know where this picture was taken.

In this picture, I see a grocery store on the corner of a street. I first noticed the words printed on the grocery store. The words I see in the photograph are, "McCollum Grocery co." I think this picture was made in the 1900's. The tools used to create this picture are some kind of camera, and an added effect to make it black and white. What's missing from this image is people. I want to know why this photograph was taken. I want to know how this image was taken. I also want to know where this photo was taken.

A cafe in the warehouse district during tobacco auction season with a separate door marked 'White.'
A cafe in the warehouse district during tobacco auction season with a separate door marked 'White.'

In this picture, I first noticed the bold, white words on the window of the cafe. The words I see in this photograph are, "Farmers Cafe." Other details I see in this photograph, are that they sell hot weiners, hamburgers, and for 5 cents. I think this image was made to show the difference between the cost of things now, to the cost of things back then, obviously things were a lot cheaper back then, but to them, the cost was expensive. I think the image was also made in the 1900's. What I can learn from examining this picture, is that the picture is looking like a modern-ish cafe, even though it isn't, it has the modern theme. I want to know why this picure was taken. I want to know where this picture was taken. I also want to know who took this photograph.

In this photograph I see a sign. I first noticed the dark big letters on the sign. The words in the phototgraph read, "Colered waiting room." I think this image was made to show people the segregation that occured back then. I think this image was made in the 1900's. If this picture was taken today, it would be different because there would not even be a sign, because there is no segregation today. I want to know why this picture was taken. I want to know where this picture was taken. I also want to know who took this picure.
The Rex theater for Negro People.
The Rex theater for Negro People.

In this photograph I see a brick movie theatre. What I first noticed was the contrast of the bright white letters, from the dark brick building. The words in the picture read. "REX theatre for colored people." I think this image was made to show how segregation occured back then. I think the audience for the image is people who think segregation is wrong ,and to show them how greatly segregation occured back then. The tools used to make this photograph is definitley a camera, and an effect used to make the picture black and white. I want to know when this picture was actually taken. I want to know where this picture was taken. I also want to know who took this photograph.
